Why?
Canonical has recently updated its brand. Now practically everything about Canonical and Ubuntu looks excellent, and Launchpad is looking a bit shabby by comparison. We need to make Launchpad look top notch and to have a brand that fits within Canonical's brand guidelines.
From Launchpad's side of things, this is motivated by the belief that having the site look good is an essential first step toward significantly improving the overall user experience.
What?
This work will involve changes to Launchpad’s logo and site design.
This project focuses entirely on visual changes, and excludes all changes to content (except possibly for the home page), interaction or navigation, and any significant changes to page structure (e.g. we're keeping portlets).
Sites
How
Launchpad is really big. Canonical already has an excellent and structured brand framework.
- develop a brief (huwshimi)
- redesign the logo to be consistent with Canonical brand (huwshimi)
- produce mockups of rebranded core pages (huwshimi)
- develop plan for actually implementing in code (???)
- develop timeline and plan for rollout of new branding (???)
