Graded Browser Support
To ensure that everyone enjoys the best possible experience using Launchpad, we've adopted and adapted Yahoo's Graded Browser Support chart. This has also been inspired by jQuery's browser support matrix.
Current support
Currently we support the latest version of Firefox and Chromium at the A-grade level. We also support as A-grade the version of these browsers that is released in supported version of Ubuntu.
All other browsers are treated as X-Grade. Discovered bugs are fixed on a discretionary basis or by down-grading the broken functionality to C-Grade.
Grades of Support
We use three grades of support:
- A-Grade
These browsers are fully capable of handling modern web standards. JavaScript is used to provide a fully enhanced experience. We actively tests our site using these browsers and will rapidly fix bugs encountered with these browsers.
- C-Grade
These browsers have significant problems with modern display techniques or functionality. For these browsers, the page provides core functionality, without JavaScript enhancement.
- X-Grade
- Assumed capable, these browsers are presented with the A-grade page, but we do not explicitly test them. If an X-Grade browser is shown to be incapable — if it chokes on modern methodologies and its user would be better served without decoration or functionality — then it is considered a C-grade browser.
