Tagging bugs about Launchpad

Launchpad's Bug Tracker allows you to create ad-hoc groups of bugs with tagging.

In the Launchpad team, we have a list of agreed tags that we may apply to bugs reported against various aspects of Launchpad itself. By using a standard set of tags, each explained on this page, we can avoid confusion.

Proposing new tags

New tags, or changes in the meaning of existing tags, are to be proposed on the launchpad-dev list, and must be accepted there.

After discussion, the proposer should update this page, moving the tag to the approved section or deleting it.

bugtag	A bug related to the implementation of bug tags
bugwatch	A bug related to bug watches
build-infrastructure	Anything related to the build system: PQM, testing framework, dependency management etc
chr	A bug particularly affecting help rotation
codebrowse	codebrowse.launchpad.net bugs
codehosting-ssh	bugs in the codehosting ssh server
codeofconduct	Bugs related to the code of conduct component
code-review	Bugs related to the code review infrastructure provided by Launchpad
confusing-ui	The user interface is confusing or otherwise difficult to use
contact-via-web	Bugs related to the contact any user feature.
derivation	Bugs or known limitations related with derivation processes in Soyuz
disclosure	Issues related to managing the disclosure of confidential information
disclosure+person-picker	Issues related to managing the disclosure of confidential information in the person-picker
disclosure+project-picker	Issues related to managing the disclosure of confidential information in the project-picker
dupefinder	Bugs related to the duplicate matcher
email	A bug related to the email infrastructure for an app
fallout	Bugs that were introduced as part of new feature development.
feature	Bugs that are feature requests
feeds	Bugs related to our feeds infrastructure
form-focus	Focusing of form controls
infrastructure	A bug that affects Launchpad infrastructure
internal-api	A bug related to the internal API infrastructure for an app
javascript	Bugs in (client) Javascript code
karma	A bug related to the karma infrastructure
launchpad-team	Bugs that are impacting the launchpad team's ability to work effectively
librarian	Bugs related to the Librarian component
mailing-lists	Bugs related to the team mailing lists feature.
markup	marking user text in useful ways (like ReST or some wiki markup)
mirror	Bugs related to the distribution mirror feature.
motu	Particularly affecting MOTU work
oem-services	Particularly affecting OEM team
oops	A bug that causes OOPSes
oops-tools	Bugs related to the scripts used to generate oops reports, oops.cgi and the processes related to oops in general
openid	Bugs related to the OpenID implementation
package-diff	A bug affecting the PackageDiff soyuz subsystem
package-link	Launchpad's links between projects and their distribution packages
performance	Bugs related to Launchpad's performance (response time, slow pages, optimization suggestions, etc.)
ppa	Bugs related with the Personal Package Archive system, usually related with some other Soyuz tag
privacy	Bugs related to the privacy / visibility of user data
priority-inheritance	Bugs with a priority escalated because they are a dependency of a high or critical priority bug
project-announcements	Bugs related to Project's announcements/latest news feature
regression	Bugs that represent a regression. These bugs should have a Critical priority.
root-cause	Bugs tracking a root cause analysis of a critical bug
rosetta-imports	A bug related to rosetta translation imports
search	A bug related to the search infrastructure for an app
soyuz-build	A bug related to the build subproject of Soyuz
soyuz-publish	A bug related to the publish subproject of Soyuz
soyuz-upload	A bug related to the upload subproject of Soyuz
spurious-test-failure	When a test fails intermittently in PQM or locally
branch-stacking	A bug in the stacking logic in the codehosting
structural-navigation	Mistakes in the use of the location bar, structural heading, and/or tabs
team-voting	A bug related to Launchpad's voting infrastructure
tech-debt	A bug that involves changing code but not changing behaviour
test-system	Deprecated. Merged with build-infrastructure
timeout	A bug that cause a timeout
tour	Bugs relating to Launchpad's tour
trivial	A bug that appears to be very simple to fix
ui	Involves only template and/or browser code
ubuntu-upstream-relations	Required work for Ubuntu / upstream relations
