Managing Sharing - Round 3 results and recommendations

- Results from tests, conducted 15th/16th March 2012 - Number of users = 5

Overview of suggested changes/recommendations

Details of suggestions

1st mock-up

This page was well-understood by all users. All users understood what each of the elements were for. No changes suggested. Here are some comments:

“Share with someone - adds a new entry in the table? Seems pretty clear.”

“This page gives me the ability to give granular access to different users based on what they can look at.”

“+ would mean give extra access, – makes me think remove them.”

2nd mock-up

‘Some’ – The help text is effective in conveying the meaning of this term, understood well by all users. No changes suggested. Comments:

“Combined with what I already know about Lp bug sharing, it makes sense with the help text.”

“It seems pretty clear. It looks pretty self-explanatory to me anyway, with 'view shared items' close by.”

3rd mock-up

Well understood by all users. However the text could be repositioned. ‘Share with a user or team’ doesn’t seem quite right – it sounds like the user is adding extra users, not just modifying that specific user. Suggest use 2nd title as the main one here. Suggest some light editing to the copy in this panel.

4th mock-up

This standard picker was well-received in general, and well-understood by all. Suggest add an OK/Cancel, as it’s not obvious how to get out of this screen. No other change suggested. Comments:

“Ah, it's a standard picker - What I'd expect to see.” “I'm used to this box, I'm adding an extra user. It's not immediately obvious how to get out of this screen, there isn't an OK/cancel. I'd be worried that clicking on the user name would take me to the users page, not select the user to add to the list.”
