Launchpad at UDS-N
Launchpad engineers are attending UDS-N to participate in Ubuntu and Linaro planning, and to meet with partner and community representatives to discuss Launchpad issues.
Curtis (sinzui) -- Launchpad Registry team
[/] Discuss the UI for LEP/ManagingDisclosure with stakeholders (linaro, u1, landscape, oem, hwe) and openstack.
- [X] ISD: Stuart and the entire team provided important feedback over 2 hours.
- [X] Need to revise mockup for the other stakeholders
[X] Monty from OpenStack (and Drizzle) discussed the revisions. Proposed that we avoid letter users with partial access to create owned private project branches to avoid subscriber/owner conflicts.
- [X] Landscape. Jamu believes that there is a screen missing. The all users view rejected by ISD is still valid. Jamu want to switch between that which is granted and who actually has permission.
- [X] Need to revise mockup for the other stakeholders
- [X] OEM: Steve needs to see that factory projects cannot see other factories in a project group.
- [X] ISD: Stuart and the entire team provided important feedback over 2 hours.
[X] Discuss LEP/BugLinking with Deryck and stakeholders
- [X] Need to update the LEP with bug-link management.
- [X] HWE: Chris will provide copies of scripts used to report on the existing links.
- [X] OEM: Steve noted he requires a master bug status.
- [X] Landscape: Dependencies are wanted for bugs between client and server
- [X] The Managing Disclosure conversation reveal that the person picker cannot be confidently used.
- ISD, Landscape, and OEM described the problem and offered several interesting suggestions.
- [X] Project groups with stack holders (linaro, u1, landscape, oem, hwe) and openstack.
- Talked to ISD, HWE, Linaro, Landscape, OEM
- Affiliation is needed as well as organisation. Nested project may solve the sku/platform problem.
- [X] Distribution Source Package administration with oem
- Not a required feature for them!
- [X] Entitlement for stack holders (linaro, u1, landscape, oem, hwe)
- Talked to OEM, ISD, Landscape, HWE
- [/] Private Answers with stackholders (u1, landscape)
- Talked to ISD, HWE, Landscape
- [X] Privacy page presentation
- ISD and OEM interpreted the current and proposed privacy stripe
- Stakeholders discussing privacy at UDS
- [X] ISD: Stuart
- [X] HWE: Chris (also Marjo)
- [X] OEM: Steve (also Cody)
- [X] Landscape: Jamu
- [X] Linaro: Kiko (also Jamie)
- [X] U1: Matt (also Joshua)
[X] A Commercial project: Monty speaking for OpenStack
- [X] launchpad project and planning page
- [X] Call for contributors on project index does not say exactly what needs to be done. The timeline is not enough. Listing the proposed work is very important. /onehundredpapercuts harder than most because the work is bug fixing, not code planning, and there are 10 concurrent feature milestones
- Show the current milestone summary and activity?
- Replace the top contributors karma with top closed bugs, specs, answers for all time, series, milestone?
- Bug tags will help users seeing the milestone to find similar bugs to work on?
- [X] When a milestone is released, the RM needs to defer triage/in-progress bugs to the next milestone, or in /onehundredpapercuts, the next series.
- Prompt to defer to an existing or new milestone?
- [X] Call for contributors on project index does not say exactly what needs to be done. The timeline is not enough. Listing the proposed work is very important. /onehundredpapercuts harder than most because the work is bug fixing, not code planning, and there are 10 concurrent feature milestones
- [X] mpt and barry both wanted to discuss the situation when Launchpad is the upstream bugtracker
- Eg, Ubuntu's Desktop Janitor and the project of the same name really share bugs.
- barry want a option to include Ubuntu's bugs in his bug listing to dedup and be certain he is seeing all of them.
Deryck Hodge (deryck) -- Launchpad Bugs team
- Catch up with Ubuntu people/teams about specific WIP or past work (Heat, Expiry, Subscriptions)
- Catch up with Robert (lifeless) about performance and production issues/work
- Wrap rotations with Brian (bdmurray) and Bryce (bryceh)
Julian Edwards (bigjools) -- Soyuz Team
- Derived Distros catch-up and progress check (Linaro and Ubuntu teams)
- James Westby says that the current approach of not allowing a distro to be derived twice is probably OK; this simplifies our operations.
- Removal of Partner archive (Ubuntu Team)
- Not a great deal for us to do here; the onus is on Software Center to support free apps.
- We still need to support partner until Lucid/Maverick EoL.
- Some questions remain over the scalability of the PPA publisher.
- We need to finish the work that counts downloads. (It's currently OOMing the PPA machine when it runs there)
Archive re-org (Ubuntu Team) https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ArchiveReorganisation/Components/Preparation
- GOBBY: ubuntutheproject-soyuz-n-archivereorg-component-preparation
- ACTION [bigjools]: define what the "default" packageset means
- Distro policy will be set up outside of LP via packageset permissions
- Need to override the packageset atomically at "queue acceptance time"
- We need a way of doing OGRE style restrictions on build-deps for packagesets
- Possibly we can put the packageset in the Packages files and use pinning on the buildd
- Mirroring problem: Maybe write one Packages file per Packageset
- ACTION [bigjools]: We need to put the packageset name wherever it lists the component in the UI
Paul Hummer (rockstar) -- Launchpad Code team
- Chat about U-D-D with all relevant parties
Talk about merge queues with OpenStack folk
- Demo build-from-branch with as many people as possible.
