How to take part

How do I close a bug?

This bug jam is about closing bugs, not necessarily fixing them.

The Launchpad project has over 6,500 open bugs. Not all of them can be fixed but it's unfair to the people who reported them and also to the project if we leave them open.

You can close a bug by changing its status to one of these:

• Fix Committed: you've fixed the bug, pushed your branch to Launchpad, someone has approved your merge proposal and PQM/Buildbot have merged your branch.

• Fix Released: the report is actually about something that has already been fixed.

• Won't Fix: this is a valid bug report but it's not something that we will fix.

• Invalid.: the bug described doesn't really exist.

When you start working on a bug, assign it to yourself and mark it In progress to make sure nobody else start working on the same thing.

Asking for help

You can ask for help in #launchpad-dev on FreeNode.

On each day of the bug jam, there'll be one or two people whose job is to look out for your questions. Their name(s) will be in the channel topic on the day and you can see who they are here:

There are two main ways to keep track of what effect the bug jam is happening:

• daily update email to the launchpad-dev mailing list

• check up on closed bugs with the bugjam2010 tag.
